The End

The two year campaign has ended. We ended up with a climatic battle at Joliet State Prison. the end result being the death of Dashing Douglas Dresden. The recovery of two coins, and the escape of one demon possessed wizard.
The final battle was tough there are some things I as a gm might have done differently but it seemed like everyone had a good time.

Everyone woke up alive and well in the city of Chicago. Daemon received a phone call from a friend of Geraldine’s requesting the crew to show up at the Royal Garden, the largest dance club in Chicago. Darian picked up Molly and a very reluctant Gabriel while Daemon and Ariel arrived with no Dashing Douglas Dresden in sight. Geraldine greeted everyone and told them she had invited them to a special performance since she had just finished her new record. She handed copies of the record to Daemon and Ariel. She introduced the group to her band, which Daemon recognized as the Creole Jazz Band. Everyone settled down in seats to watch the performance with Gabriel in the back of the ballroom. During the performance an old Indian man in blue jeans came in and sat next to him.

The man was Listens to Wind, a member of the senior council of wizards, who had arrived to speak with Daemon, Gabriel, and Dresden. He tells Gabriel that his apprentice is from the family that takes care of the layline underneath Wrigley so he cannot stop him from his family’s duties. Geraldine and the band finished their performance to rave reviews by everyone there. The group dispersed, with the wizards going to the Walgreens to talk while Ariel went home and Darian drove Molly back to Gabriel’s house. Listens to Wind spoke with Gabriel and Daemon about the White Council not getting involved in the vampire war, staying out of the way of the feuding Fae sisters, keeping an eye on the Dragon’s servant, and wanting the Tablets that were being collected. Dashing Douglas, after getting home from a late night, listened to his messages and met the wizards at the Walgreens. He was inducted into the White Council and given his staff and cloak, making him official. Meanwhile, Darian dropped Molly off back at Gabriel’s house. She walked in to find William, the apprentice, sitting on the floor in a trance with the phoenix egg in his lap. Not knowing what to do, she dumped a bucket of water on him but to no avail. She took the egg from him and put it back into the bucket. She tried to snap him out of the trance but couldn’t, so she moved him to his bed and tucked him in. She called upon her Lady, explaining what she had found. The Lady told her that Molly should send her the egg and that would block the boy from it, helping to break him out of the trance. Molly filled the bathtub and transported herself and the egg to the Lady of the Lake. Gabriel got a bad feeling after the meeting ended at Walgreens and went home to find the egg gone, the apprentice still soaking wet and in a trance in his bed, and Molly nowhere to be found. Gabriel opened the Sight to find out what was wrong with his apprentice. In the Sight, the apprentice was enthralled by the phoenix so Gabriel decided to shut down the boy’s mind so that it can heal itself and got out of the Sight himself. He found the full bathtub with no Molly and decided to call everyone to let them know the situation. Not trusting that Gabriel was fully under control of his emotions, Ariel decided to go to his house. She called Daemon to see if he wanted a ride but he said he would meet her there. Ariel, Dresden, and Darian rushed to the house to see what was going on. Daemon headed to the Fountain and asked to speak to the Lady of the Lake. He asked her if Molly had brought her the egg and she answered yes. She also mentioned that because it was a family heirloom that she would be willing to make a deal in order for Gabriel to get it back. Daemon took a taxi to Gabriel’s house and found everyone outside. Daemon told Gabriel about his conversation with the Lady of the Lake when Mack the Knife pulled up. Mack asked why the wizards were giving such powerful items to the Lady of the Lake and Gabriel told him what had happened. He laughs at the situation then leaves. After forcing Gabriel to promise that he would not kill Molly on sight but that if anyone heard or saw her that he would be informed the rest of the group decided to leave. Suspicious of Ariel’s intentions, Gabriel used the Sight on her to determine her weakness. He found out what it was, but it hurt!

White/Red War
Ariel awakened, having had bad dreams all night after getting attacked at the party. As she was getting ready she heard a knock on her door. She answered it and Lillian was there, crying and begging for help. Ariel allowed her in only to have Lillian attack her, snarling and crying at the same time. Ariel easily overpowered her and tied her up, but she ended up having to knock her out. She called Daemon but no one was home so she called Dresden and he agreed to come over. Dashing came over and determined that she was Red Court infected, which there was nothing he could do about. It was decided to take her to the church and let them try to help her. Ariel dropped them off, having no reason to go inside the church herself. Father Stanislaus leads Dashing Douglas into the basement, which was full of weapons, to a group of cells to put Lillian in while they help her. Father Stanislaus also told him about what occurred at the meeting and warns Dashing about the out of control angel and the Knight of the Cross. Darian took Daemon home to make a potion to save Molly while Gabriel worked on an armor potion for his home. Darian called Capone’s man and let him know what was going on. Molly escaped his circle and went to the house, but the boy William wouldn’t allow her in. William did bring her some dry clothes and she danced on Gabriel’s front lawn until Will made her some mac and cheese. They were sitting on the porch eating when Daemon and Darian pulled up to the house with the potion. They all went inside Gabriel’s house, which is dusty and obviously in disrepair. Darian makes Gabriel a deal that as long as Molly can stay with him he won’t charge him for destroying the expensive bathtub. Daemon called Dresden and invited him over. Daemon heard a flaming call of passion from the basement and when Dresden arrived he could hear it as well. It got louder when Ariel arrived with women’s clothing and food. They began humming the tune and Gabriel, after recognizing it, asked them to stop. Ariel showed Molly how to cook while Gabriel figured out that energy from outside the house was getting to the egg. He decided to put the egg in a bucket of water, which Darian witnessed after following him down to the basement. After describing what happened at the party, it was decided to call Louisa who was the last one nobody knew what had happened to. She was out so everyone decided to go home. Daemon and Dresden shared a cab so they could discuss the warden issue. Darian and Ariel went back to the Palmer House and were trying to relax in Darian’s apartment when they heard a frantic knock at the door. Louisa burst in, raving about an angel having killed a bunch of people at a whorehouse she had been visiting. Darian took Louisa to the church for sanctuary while Ariel went to Daemon’s house to let him know what was going on. Daemon called to warn Dresden of the angel being out and about but Dashing still went and performed his show. Around 2AM in the morning an explosion rocked the Northside as a distillery exploded. The distillery was owned by the Northside mob but luckily no one was injured when Dresden arrived. The water in the bucket holding the phoenix egg suddenly vanished but luckily Gabriel was still awake so he added more water and the egg calmed back down. Later in the morning Gabriel received a phone call that tomorrow a mage called Listen to Wind was going to arrive for a tour of the city. Daemon and Ariel went to the Masonic Temple building. Daemon asked one of the minor practitioners if he could speak to one of the Loa and she asks what another white man would want from a Loa. She told him of George Washington and that the Loa said that the other white man tried to have the guards kill George in prison. She told Daemon that he needed to speak with the Loa of the Crossroads if he wanted to find out anything more.

The darkness lifted to reveal a scene of chaos and disorder in the restaurant. Gabriel, Ariel, and Daemon made a quick exit outside just as Darian and Dresden arrived. Ariel asked where Molly was but Gabriel had lost her during the fight. Daemon noticed a portal to the Nevernever closing on the other side of the street in a shadow in the alley. The group determined that Molly had been kidnapped and probably taken to the Nevernever. Darian grabs his weapons out of his car and goes into were-lyger form as Dashing Douglas Dresden opened a portal to the Nevernever. Everyone stepped through.
The portal opens onto the alley in the Nevernever and solidified moonlight tried to kill Daemon, Gabriel, and Darian. They dodged and the group went into the street where sun and moon court like cops and robbers were running and shooting at each other all over. This was odd since the Sun and Moon Court weren’t supposed to be in the Nevernever. The party left that problem for later as they entered a building and Gabriel performed a tracking spell to find Molly. A little goblin named Bogey showed up in a fedora and trenchcoat and said he could lead them to the dame. The path he took wound all around the city as was very strange. Bogey led the party to the Sun Knight, where she revealed the plot that Dresden, Daemon, and she had come up with to kill the Moon Knight. She opened a portal back to the real world after sensing her husband was no longer in the Nevernever. The party plus Bogey ends up at the sun dial in Lincoln Park, which was luckily not too far from Daemon’s apartment. The group went there to gather supplies and clothing for Darian.
Meanwhile, Molly woke up from being knocked out to find herself in a completely dark room with who she figured out was the Moon Knight. He told her of his plan to kill us but that he would let her go since she was protected by the Lady of the Lake. After the Moon Knight left, Molly heard a female voice talk to her. It was Lady Constance, who told Molly that Mack had sent her to save her after her friends were dead. At least Molly knew she would survive…
Meanwhile, Bogey led the group to the new Wrigley building under construction and told them that Molly was in the freight tunnels by the water. The group broke in through the gate of the construction zone and broke in to the manager’s trailer to read the floor plans. Inside the building was the supernatural darkness but they managed to find their way to the stairs. Gabriel was the first one in but fell to the first landing. The rest of the party passed him and as Darian rounded the corner a hail of fire from a tommy gun was heard. Douglas passed Darian to return fire with his pistol to no avail. Ariel passed both of them to act as a human shield and the three got to the bottom of the stairs. Gabriel, the last in line, got attacked from behind by a man with a ram’s head and got punted all the way into the next room. Daemon turned and hit the attacker with his Walls of Jericho, which shattered one of the ram’s horns and knocked the attacker out cold. As Ariel and Dresden struggled with the attacker with the tommy gun, Darian transformed and shoulder-tackled the group. Dashing Douglas got out of the way but all the rest flew through the door on the other side and landed on top of Gabriel. Gabriel used magic to get out from underneath the pile only to get stabbed by a mage-killer dagger in the hands of the Moon Knight. The guy with the tommy gun decided this fight wasn’t worth it and disappeared. Douglas used a spell to burn out the Moon Knight’s eyes while Ariel shot him. Daemon illuminated the entire room with a spell, causing all of the Hobs on the walls to go away. The Moon Knight held up his hands in surrender but Dashing Douglas killed him anyway, effectively ending the war between the Sun and Moon courts. Daemon cauterized Gabriel’s wounds and Ariel, the only one who could handle the dagger, stowed it away to send to the dragon.
Meanwhile, Molly was still trapped in the entry-less room. Lady Constance told her that The Shadow had killed the Moon Knight and that Mack was all wrong about him. Molly had no idea who The Shadow was. She used the water in her flask to summon a helper to get her out. Bogey appeared and brought her to where her friends were. Molly asked if they knew who The Shadow was but nobody seemed to know. They all made their way to the exit and hoped no more trouble would come their way for now.

18th Session

As repairs continue at La Locomotive, Daemon decided it would be a good idea to put a ward on the door against Red Court. Emma Watson woke Molly up very early and took her shopping. Molly came home with a dinner dress and a tea dress for the party the next night. Gabriel stopped by the club to ask for Daemon’s help in getting two bottles of Jamaican rum for the Lowa (sp?) because he has only one week to get it.
Molly decided to investigate Lady Duff Gordon’s watch before she had to turn it over the next evening. It looked like an ordinary men’s pocket watch with 16 rubies but there was a little bit of water under the watch glass. She could tell it was magical but not what kind or how powerful so she requested Daemon’s help. To Daemon, this watch was the most powerful magic item he had ever seen. A very powerful type of water magic oozed out of it and it seems to have a lot more power than it should be able to hold for its size. While talking about the watch, Molly spills the secret of her working for the Lady of the Lake to Daemon. Gabriel, still at the club, tried to listen in on the conversation and got caught. Daemon has Gabriel look at the watch but Gabriel can’t see how powerful it is. Molly, who always falls for the wrong man, looked at Gabriel in a different light and decided she wanted him. He resisted and left, but Molly followed a short time later. Gabriel arrived home to find his lawn mowed and decided it was time he had his apprentice. He went to Willie O’Donnell’s house and asked the boy’s father about his special gifts. Gabriel tells the father that he knows a place where Willie’s gifts will be cultivated to help society. The father sells Willie for $500 to Gabriel and agrees to have him at Gabriel’s house the next morning at 10AM.
Meanwhile, Molly had arrived at Gabriel’s house to find nobody home. She tried to break in using her water magic but was repelled by his wards. Luckily, Gabriel returned home soon after she arrived and allowed her inside. They decided to go out to eat (since it looked as though Gabriel had never cooked on his stove in his life) but Gabriel insisted it wasn’t a date. The spaghetti house must have been a popular choice for dinner that night as they saw Daemon and Ariel eating at the same restaurant once they’d been seated. Dinner had just arrived when it suddenly went completely dark, not even the light of the candles shining through.
The Hobs attacked the party in the darkness. Daemon kicked his chair away and hid under the table while Ariel shot them from the seated position. Gabriel hid under his table as well so he wasn’t there when Molly reached across the table to grab his arm. She felt the heat of the candle on the table and knew something was attacking Gabriel. She used water out of her flask to choke the attacking thing while Gabriel stabbed it with his knife. Gabriel used magic to determine that the creatures attacking them were Hobs. Molly used her graceful dancer ways to get outside and found out it was still completely dark. She was knocked out and kidnapped outside the restaurant. Inside, Ariel kept shooting as Daemon used his Walls of Jericho to blast away the last of the attackers. They all waited in the dark to see what happened next.

“It was the day after and back to business as usual. Daemon checked out the club to see how bad the damage was and hired a crew to clean it up. Molly Davies called Ariel to speak about getting the watch back to Lady Duff Gordon and Ariel invites her to the fashion show. Ariel scheduled her personal shopper Emma Watson to pick out an outfit for Molly that would be suitable for such an occasion. Molly then called up Darien Rockefeller Prentice to meet up with him later. She offered him a favor in exchange for a larger bathtub and he agreed; the favor will be determined later. Gabriel got a phone call to check out the bodies at a suspected brothel to see if they had been killed by magic. The bodies had long burn marks across them like a knife blade of fire had cut them and when he tried to determine what kind of magic had been used he heard angelic singing. He decided that the Lord doesn’t just kill good people at random and decided it wasn’t his problem. Dashing Douglas Dresden met with Samuel to discuss how to end the Sun and Moon Court war without killing either of the knights but finds that there is no other way that won’t include more bloodshed. He decided to contact Ethel, the Sun Knight, and plotted with her at La Locomotive to assassinate the Moon Knight, her husband. Ethel let it slip that she was the one who had called in “The Flaming Sword of the Lord” that had killed the suspected prostitutes to help purge some corruption from the city. Dashing Douglas had originally plotted to kill the Moon Knight at The Platinum Lounge but after discussing it with Daemon decided that a back alley in an empty warehouse is where they should have the Moon Knight meet them. They will call Ethel before they leave so she can meet them there and help. Continuing his hunt for George Washington, Gabriel summoned a Loa to ask it where he is. The Loa told Gabriel that he could find George in Joliet prison as a “guest of the state”. Gabriel traveled to Joliet Prison and found out that George Washington was in prison due to having slept with a cop’s daughter. He spoke with Washington and used Soulgaze upon him to see if he really had killed that person with magic. George Washington turned out to be a weak man who felt powerless without a Loa in charge of his body so Gabriel decided not to kill him yet. Gabriel did, however, bribe a guard to have an “accident” happen to Washington while he was in prison. Meanwhile, Molly went to the gun club and met Louisa to speak with her about any friends of hers that might need entertaining. Night came upon them all as the plot began to thicken…"

Red Court Mess

“Everyone awoke the next morning alive, even Darien didn’t get attacked the night before. The Sun Court Knight, however, showed up early at his door demanding to know what the group had found out about Mack. Darien spills the beans about the Moon Court and she leaves in a huff, promising to tell her prince about what has happened. Not worried, Darien heads to the Cubs game to sit in the box seats. Molly worked on a new routine all day while Gabriel tracked another piece of the Tablet down only to find out it is in the water pipes with a swift current even he would have trouble dealing with. Defeated, Gabriel went to the Cubs game as well and notices the 10 year old boy who is rechalking the lines has magic abilities. After the game he approaches the father, the head groundskeeper, and asks if his son would be willing to do yardwork for him since he is so busy. The father agrees to his son mowing Gabriel’s yard once a week. The group meets at the club that night without Damon or Dashing Douglas, who are busy. Gabriel notices a man who has a magic aura and Darien sends him a bourbon. Gabriel grabs the glass from the waitress’ tray when the guy is done and tastes his saliva. The saliva tastes funny, like a man on the edge, and Gabriel realizes he is Red Court. At that point, the vampire rips off the head of the waitress next to him and begins killing people at random. Ariel and Darien start shooting him while Molly dives for cover and Gabriel casts a spell to make it easier for the panicked people to find exits. After being shot multiple times the vampire finally goes down but his body explodes and Gabriel is taken out of the fight. Two more Red Court come in through the open door and attack Darien, taking him out. One vampire tries to attack Ariel but is forced to run away in terror when she invokes her presence and intimidates him. Once done with Darien the other vampire attacks Ariel, who gets help from Molly. Molly uses water to create a whip out of water to grapple the vampire while Ariel just keeps shooting him in the face. The vampire dies but again his body explodes, sending blood and guts everywhere. 13 total people died in the club that night and the police arrived to find Ariel pretending to be hysterical about how these guys came in with dynamite and blew themselves up. Luckily the blood and tears help to make her story believable and the club is shut down for clean up and repairs. Gabriel, Darien, and Molly escaped before the police came and went home to try and get some rest, thinking about why the bodies exploded.”

“The group was still tired from the fight with the sorcerer when they met at the club with the Moon and Sun court knights, a married couple. The knights reported that Mack the Knife had killed six full blooded fae members on each side and requested us to stop him. Daemon Chaosti Harper Blaine agreed to help while Gabriel told them he was planning on staying out of it. Daemon and Darian put out feelers that they are looking to talk to Mack the Knife. After the knights left a scroll popped up from thin air in front of Daemon, who opened it to find out that Warden Justin Demorne had decided to step down and take a rest from the hectic life. Daemon has his suspicions of who might be the new warden but keeps them to himself. Everyone goes home for some well earned rest and in the morning Darian Rockefeller Prentice extends an invitation to everyone to come to dinner at the Palmer House that evening. Since nobody can resist free food they all show up to find out that he had actually invited them to ask a favor. He mentions that Louisa, the Dow heiress, had asked him a couple of days ago to investigate the hangar next to hers because she had noticed something strange going on over there and she knew Darian and his friends were into strange stuff. The group reluctantly agreed to look into the matter and Darian called Louisa to meet the group at the hangar. She met them there in her men’s clothing and led them to her hangar, mentioning that the odd thing that caused her to ask the group to investigate was the smell of burning blood in the hangar next door. Gabriel looks at the hangar from the outside with the Sight and notices how clean it is, like it was scrubbed with magic. Dashing Douglas in his usual shadowy investigation smelled bleach around the building and noticed a circle of water. Molly determined that the water was lake water, odd since the lake was miles away. Daemon broke the circle with a shovel and the group proceeded into the spotless hangar. Gabriel again confirmed using the Sight that the hangar had been scrubbed clean on the inside as well with spirit and force magic with a little bleach for good measure. The group suspects that this may have been where the sorcerer had done his ritual but nobody was willing to say it out loud in front of someone who isn’t “in the know”. The group leaves, promising Louisa that they will continue the investigation and to let Darian know if anything else strange happens. The group then goes their separate ways for the evening.
When Darian gets back to the Palmer House he has a message from Mack saying that he’ll meet with the group at noon the next day at an address in the Meat Packing District. Darian calls the club and informs Daemon, who was busy putting out feelers to find Geraldine since he hadn’t seen her for a while. News gets back to him that she ill be out of touch for a while as she is recording an album. Gabriel decides he wants to try and find the six tablets and asks Daemon to let him use the one tablet the group has to track the rest down. Daemon declines, so Gabriel has to use his favor from the Windy City to find another tablet and spends the rest of the day studying it closely. Molly tries to contact her lady but finds the line is busy so she heads to the Fountain of the Great Lakes to try and speak with her. A new statue at the fountain speaks to her with a chilly air and Maab, who is speaking through the statue, tells her that her lady will be indisposed for a while because she was being naughty and that Molly needed to bugger off until she had done the favor that Mack was going to request of her.
The group met at noon at Harland Meat Packing plant with Mack, who was babysitting Lady Constance by allowing her to sharpen her sword skills on hanging hunks of cow in a large freezer. Daemon asks why he’s killing the Sun and Moon fae and, as always, Mack comes back with the reason that they were rude to him at one point or another. He then gets serious and says that the real reason is that the Moon court had claimed Lady Duff Gordon and Maab wanted her back and the Moon mark off of her. He said he would stop the killing if this was done so the group with the exception of Molly left. Mack then gave Molly the extra mission of getting a watch that belongs to Lady Duff Gordon back from the Moon Court and giving it back to her, citing the reason that the watch is apparently the way that Maab and Molly’s lady keep “score” and that without it the game could not continue and Molly wouldn’t be able to talk to her lady. As soon as she leaves she sends a message to the knight of the Moon Court to meet her at the neutral ground, a good idea since it was daytime. He does and she discusses with him the situation. He informs her that only the fae that made the deal can break it but he does know of only one fae in the Moon Court that takes a possession when they make a deal. Daemon also reaches out to the knight of the Moon Court and after dark meets everyone at the club to discuss the same situation him and Molly had met privately about earlier except the watch. The Moon Knight informs us that the fae Samuel, the Demon of the Crossroads, is probably the one who holds the deal with Lady Duff Gordon. The group decides that they need to meet with Samuel so Daemon sends a request and everyone anxiously waits to see if he’ll grant an audience…"

“The sun is just rising in the city of Chicago as Molly makes her way to the Fountain of the Great Lakes with her glass of lake water. She pours the water in to communicate with her lady, who warns her that Excaliber is coming to town and to stay out of the dragon’s way. Meanwhile, Marek is still investigating the fire at the school that killed three nuns and 92 school boys. He learns that a Detective Casey in uptown has been assigned the case. He looks into the significance of the order of the bodies and even opens the Sight in the nun’s rooms but has very little luck. He decides to go to Kroch’s and Brentano’s to speak with the scary German Adolph Kroch, who agrees to look into the history of the church for him. Darian Rockefeller Prentice heads to the gun range and receives a phone call from Louisa. She has a sensitive matter that she wishes the group to investigate in the hangar next door at the airport and Darian agrees to meet her at the Blackstone Hotel the next evening. Gabriel Atticus Blackthorne and Daemon Chaosti Harper Blaine follow the trail of Matthew to the post office. Daemon blows through a ward but no one is home. Gabriel breaks into the back door and goes to the basement where Oliver Roosevelt said he was staying. Gabriel removed the veil over the door to find a nasty smelling room that had to be where Oliver was living. It was full of skins and unmentionable body fluids but Gabriel managed to snag a fox fur to take with him for later use. He found nothing on the second floor and left the building. Early in the evening Molly takes a dress and some glass beads to a costumer and then heads to the club. A handsome man by the name of Mack Messer, or Mack the knife, catches her eye and she sits at his table. The two talk for awhile then leave together, presumably to slate some feelings of lust. Ariel arrives at the club a little while later after attending a charity gala at the Field Museum and receiving a phone call from her boss. Eventually the rest of the group except for Dashing Douglas Dresden show up at the club and after learning who Molly left the club with assume she might be dead by morning. Gabriel Atticus Blackthorne does a spell using the fox fur and determines that at least Oliver Roosevelt is in the Masonic Temple building, the neutral ground. The group heads over and confirms with Johnny that both Matthew and Oliver are there, but at the highest point. The elevator takes the group as high as it can go and they take the stairs the rest of the way to the roof where a strong veil is hiding what is truly going on. Eventually, after some very hard effort, Marek manages to break through the veil and it is revealed that Matthew is in a hot air balloon over the street. He is surrounded by wind spirits and his only tie to the ground is Oliver, who is standing on the roof holding the guide rope in his hands. The battle to save the city from being enslaved is about to begin.”
